Earrings "Lady with Ermine", in 950 silver and details in oxidation. Sculptural representation of Leonardo da Vinci’s painting, 1489, of the same name. Leonardo uses on this canvas the technique sfumato renascentista, that softens the transition between the different shades, giving a smoother aspect to Cecilia’s skin, represented in this painting. The ermine, finally, was not present with the young lady at the time she posed for the painter, and is representative not only of her surname, Gallerani, but also of her lover, Ludovido Sforza, hugging him affectionately.
Leonardo is one of the most recognized artists of the Italian Renaissance. He was born in Vinci, a commune in the province of Florence, in 1452, and in 1469 moved to Florence. There, the artist learned different techniques in the atelier of Andrea del Verrocchio, painter friend of his father. Besides his knowledge in art, Leonardo is extremely well known for his work in engineering, having his inventions and prototypes, precursors of various tools and machinery widely used today.
